As part of the New World Project programme for Durham University, PH Partnership designed and project managed the conversion of an existing building into a new Secondary Data Centre.
The design was based on the latest energy efficient ‘rear door’ cooling technologies which use water flows to reduce the energy required to power the data centre. As a result, the data centre has a design PUE (Power Use Efficiency) of 1.38 which ranks amongst the best in the world for this type of technology.
The project will deliver a flexible and secure facility to host the University’s IT applications and store its data. This will allow the support of the University’s future teaching and research needs from a modern, efficient IT platform.
