Highly specialist research facility offering a high level of infrastructure and equipment designed around a restrictive building fabric and arrangement. Heavily services and highly restricted for alteration of existing services and exhaust ductwork. Detailed consideration of existing fabric in order to dovetail all newly services and facilities within existing. Other areas of the building and external gas bottle store required specific adaptation to co-ordinate with multiple users and operations within a confined space.
Close liaison with adjoining users to minimise disruption upon on-going research. Development of bespoke specialist equipment, via close liaison with the department and users.
The new accommodation consisted of central Laboratory Spaces, with a new Write-Up/Monitoring Rooms immediately adjoining. Secure link to adjoining Blast Autoclave Facility. Refurbishment of existing Blast Autoclave including extension to form additional Blast bay. Refurbishment and fit out of adjoining control room and remote monitoring station. Inclusion of blast resistant construction and components throughout.
